While carrots won’t regrow from scraps, their tops will sprout greens.
Place the cut tops in a shallow dish of water, cut side down.
Use the greens in salads, soups, or as garnish.
5. Potatoes
Cut a potato into chunks, ensuring each piece has at least one “eye” (sprout).
Let the pieces dry for 1–2 days to prevent rotting.
Plant in soil, eye side up, and watch your potato plants grow!
6. Sweet Potatoes
Submerge half of a sweet potato in water.
Once sprouts (called slips) appear, remove them and plant in soil for a new sweet potato crop.
7. Garlic
Plant a garlic clove, pointy side up, in soil.
As it grows, trim the greens to use in cooking or let it fully mature into a new bulb.
8. Onions
Save the root base and plant it directly in soil.
It will start sprouting new growth in a few weeks.
9. Ginger
