This was my grandpa’s all time fave snack! We had to hide it from him

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted peanuts
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Without stirring, let it boil until it reaches a light amber color, about 8-10 minutes.
Remove from heat and quickly stir in the peanuts, butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Add the baking soda and stir vigorously. The mixture will foam up, creating that gooey, stringy texture.
Pour the mixture onto a greased baking sheet, spreading it out with a spatula.
Let it cool completely, then break into pieces and enjoy!
