The Softest 100% Whole Wheat Bread: No Butter, Sugar, or Eggs

In a small bowl, mix lukewarm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

2. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, salt, and powdered milk. Stir well to ensure even distribution of the ingredients.

3. Add Wet Ingredients
Pour the yeast mixture, olive oil, and honey into the flour mixture. Stir until everything begins to combine into a dough.

4. Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. If it’s too sticky, sprinkle a little flour, but try to keep it as moist as possible for a softer bread.

5. Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.

6. Shape and Rest
After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release any air bubbles. Shape it into a loaf and place it into a greased loaf pan. Cover it and let it rise again for 30-45 minutes until it has risen slightly above the edge of the pan.

7. Bake the Bread
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has rested, bake it for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

8. Cool and Serve
Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This ensures the bread sets properly and remains soft.
