The Best Brownies: Fudgy, Gooey, and Irresistible

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and grease it lightly.

Prepare Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Sift Dry Ingredients:
Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold until just combined (be careful not to overmix).

Stir in Chocolate:
Stir in the chocolate chips or chunks for extra gooeyness.

Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set, but the center is still slightly jiggly.

Cool and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
