Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sweetened condensed milk together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the flour and salt to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined. If you’re adding chopped nuts, fold them into the dough at this point. The dough should be soft but firm enough to hold its shape.
Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Space them about 2 inches apart, as they will spread slightly.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are just starting to turn golden.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, roll each cookie in powdered sugar to coat completely. You may want to give them a second coat of powdered sugar for an extra snowy look!
