Using sharp, sterilized scissors or pruning shears, cut the old orchid branch just above a node (a small bump on the stem where new roots or shoots can grow).
The cuttings should be a few inches long and should contain one or more nodes.
Rooting the Orchid Stem:
Dip the cut end of the stem in rooting hormone (optional but helpful for faster root development).
Plant the cuttings in a small pot with fresh orchid potting mix (such as bark, sphagnum moss, or a mixture of both). Make sure the cut end is buried in the medium to encourage rooting.
Keep the pot in a warm, humid location with indirect light. Orchids prefer temperatures around 65-75°F (18-24°C).
