Simple Apple Cake in the Pan: A Quick and Cozy Fall Treat

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or a square 8×8-inch pan.
Peel, core, and chop the apples into small bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
Make the Batter:

In a medium mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until smooth and combined.
Fold in the Apples:

Gently fold the chopped apples into the batter, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
Bake the Cake:

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The top should be golden brown, and the cake should feel firm to the touch.
Serve:

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar if desired and slice into squares or wedges.
