Show-Stopping Butter and Filling-Filled Dough Recipe

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Stir to dissolve and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Stir to form a dough.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.

Let the Dough Rise:

Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Shape the Dough:

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

Add the Filling:

Brush the melted butter generously over the surface of the dough.

Sprinkle the filling of your choice evenly over the buttered dough. For savory, sprinkle with garlic, herbs, and cheese; for sweet, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar.

Roll and Cut:

Roll the dough tightly from one side, creating a log.

Slice the dough into individual rolls, about 1-2 inches thick, and place them in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking tray.

Bake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and fragrant.

Once baked, drizzle any remaining melted butter over the top for extra richness.

Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. These will be soft, buttery, and absolutely delicious. Your guests won’t be able to stop talking about them!
