Scones Recipe

In a large bowl, mix the self-raising flour, baking powder, and sugar together. Add the cold margarine and rub it in with your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Mix Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, mix the custard powder with a little milk, then add the eggs and vanilla essence. Beat everything together until well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing well until it forms a dough.

Roll Out Dough:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently roll it out to about 1-inch thickness.

Cut into Scones:
Using a scone cutter or the rim of a drinking glass, cut out circles of dough.

Brush with Egg Mixture:
Beat the extra egg with a little milk and brush the mixture over the top of each scone for a golden finish.

Bake:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
