Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Step 2: Make the Biscuit Dough
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir with a spoon until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
Step 3: Shape the Biscuits
Using a spoon or your hands, drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Aim for about 8-10 biscuits. You can space them out or keep them touching for soft sides.
Step 4: Bake
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
Step 5: Make the Garlic Butter Topping
While the biscuits are baking, melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.
Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and dried parsley.
Step 6: Brush the Biscuits
As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, immediately brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of each biscuit. Use a pastry brush or spoon to ensure each biscuit gets a generous coating.
Step 7: Serve
Serve the biscuits warm, straight from the oven. They are perfect on their own, or as a side to any meal, especially seafood, soups, or salads.
