In a small bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, sugar, and fresh yeast. Stir and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until the yeast is activated and foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and the melted butter. Add the yeast mixture and egg yolk, then knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. This should take about 5-8 minutes.
Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Shape the Snails:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1 cm thick.
Spread your favorite plum jam or fresh plums (or any fruit filling you like) on the dough. You can add a bit of cinnamon or sugar for extra flavor.
Roll the dough tightly from one edge to form a log. Cut the log into 1-inch slices.
Place the slices in a greased baking dish, spiraling each piece into a snail shape.
Let the Snails Rise:
Cover the dish with a towel and let the snails rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake the snails for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve and Enjoy:
Let the snails cool for a few minutes before serving.
Optional: Drizzle with powdered sugar or glaze for an extra sweet touch.
