Orzo with Broccoli: A Quick and Flavorful Side Dish

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the orzo pasta and cook according to the package instructions, about 8-10 minutes. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pot. Drain the pasta and broccoli and set aside.

Sauté the garlic:
While the orzo and broccoli are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Combine pasta and broccoli:
Add the drained orzo pasta and broccoli florets to the skillet with the garlic. Toss well to combine, making sure the broccoli is coated in the olive oil and garlic mixture.

Add seasoning:
Stir in the Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss until the cheese has melted and everything is evenly mixed.

Finish with lemon (optional):
For an extra burst of freshness, drizzle lemon juice over the dish and give it one last toss.

Serve:
Transfer the orzo and broccoli mixture to a serving dish and serve warm as a side dish to your favorite meal!
