Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced beef in a single layer and let it cook for 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to sear. Once the beef is browned on one side, stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until it’s cooked through but still tender. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
Cook the Onion and Garlic:
In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil.
Add the sliced onion and cook for about 3-4 minutes until it becomes soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, stirring to avoid burning.
Add the Spices and Sauces:
Sprinkle the cumin (and coriander, if using) over the onions and garlic. Stir to combine and cook for 1 minute to release the spices’ flavors.
Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil (if using), and sugar (if desired). Stir everything together to form a flavorful sauce.
Combine the Beef and Serve:
Return the cooked beef to the skillet, tossing it with the onion and cumin mixture until everything is well-coated. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat everything through. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley if desired and serve hot over rice or noodles.
