Old Fashioned Goulash

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Sauté the Garlic and Onion:

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot with the cooked meat. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onions are soft and translucent.

Add the Liquids and Tomatoes:

Stir in the water, beef broth, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.

Simmer the Goulash:

Reduce the heat and let the goulash simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Adjust Seasoning:

Taste the goulash and adjust salt and pepper to your liking. You can also add additional seasonings like Italian herbs, red pepper flakes, or paprika for extra flavor.

Serve:

Serve hot, over cooked pasta or with a side of crusty bread for a satisfying meal.
