Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar and melted butter, stirring until well combined and smooth.
Add the egg and liquid vanilla, and whisk everything together until it’s creamy and well mixed.
2. Add Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
3. Shape and Bake:
For cookies: Use a spoon to scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each cookie slightly with the back of a spoon for an even shape.
For muffins: Scoop the dough into a muffin tin, filling each cup about halfway.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown (for cookies) or a toothpick comes out clean (for muffins).
4. Let Cool:
Allow the cookies/muffins to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
