Milopita (Greek Apple Cake): A Flavorful Greek Dessert

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or square cake pan, or line it with parchment paper.
Prepare the Apples:

In a small bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning and set aside.
Mix the Dry Ingredients:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves (if using), and salt.
Cream the Butter and Sugar:

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Assemble the Cake:

Fold the sliced apples into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake the Cake:

Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake is golden brown on top.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
