Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley (if using).
Use your hands to mix everything together until well combined. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
Arrange the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.
Bake the meatballs for 18-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
Step 2: Prepare the Baguette Boats
While the meatballs are baking, slice the baguettes or rolls in half lengthwise.
Place them on a baking sheet, cut side up, and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are lightly golden.
Step 3: Assemble the Meatball Boats
Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and set them aside.
Spoon a little marinara sauce on each toasted baguette half.
Place 3-4 meatballs on each slice of bread.
Spoon additional marinara sauce over the meatballs and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Return the meatball boats to the oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 4: Serve and Garnish
Remove the meatball boats from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired, and serve immediately.
