Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies: A Sweet and Fruity Twist on a Classic

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Mix the Dry Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
Add the Chocolate Chips and Cherries:

Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries. If desired, reserve some additional chocolate chips and cherries to top the cookies before baking for extra flair.
Shape and Bake:

Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Optionally, place a few extra chocolate chips and cherry pieces on top of each cookie for a decorative touch.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft. Be careful not to overbake.
Cool and Enjoy:

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
