Maple Bourbon Candied Bacon: A Sweet and Savory Delicacy

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet. Arrange the bacon slices on the wire rack in a single layer.
Step 2: Make the Candied Glaze

In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, bourbon, brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and smoked paprika.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the glaze is slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Coat the Bacon

Brush a generous amount of the maple bourbon glaze over each slice of bacon, making sure to coat both sides. Reserve some glaze for later.
Step 4: Bake the Bacon

Place the bacon in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized, turning the slices halfway through baking.
Keep an eye on the bacon towards the end to prevent burning, as the sugar can caramelize quickly.
Step 5: Glaze and Serve

Once the bacon is crispy, remove it from the oven and brush with the remaining glaze.
Let the bacon rest for a few minutes before serving.
