To get the crispiest chips, soak the sliced potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch, which can prevent them from getting crispy.
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean towel or paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.
Season the Chips:
Sprinkle the potato slices with salt, and feel free to add any other seasonings you like, such as pepper, garlic powder, paprika, or even a bit of chili powder for heat.
Arrange the Chips:
For Oven: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the potato slices in a single layer, making sure they aren’t overlapping. This ensures even cooking and crispiness.
For Air Fryer: Place the slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If necessary, do it in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Bake or Air Fry the Chips:
For Oven: Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping the chips halfway through. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent burning. The chips should be golden brown and crispy when done.
For Air Fryer: Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Again, check towards the end to ensure they’re crispy but not burnt.
