How to Make Pizza at Home: A Simple Recipe for Homemade Deliciousness

In a small bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and garlic powder (if using). Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and stir to form a dough.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Prepare the Pizza Sauce:

While the dough is rising, prepare the pizza sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Simmer the sauce over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool.
Assemble the Pizza:

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, preheat it in the oven for a crispier crust.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions (for two pizzas) or keep it whole for one large pizza. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
Transfer the dough to a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza stone. If you like, brush the edges of the dough with a little olive oil for a golden finish.
Spread a generous amount of pizza sauce on the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add your desired toppings (pepperoni, vegetables, sausage, etc.).
Bake the Pizza:

Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, if desired.
