How to Clean a Dirty Iron: Laundry Room Method
What You’ll Need:
Baking soda
Distilled white vinegar
A clean microfiber cloth or old towel
Cotton swabs
Toothpick or wooden skewer
Distilled water
Old pillowcase or dish towel
Iron-safe bowl or cup
Step-by-Step Cleaning Guide
1. Unplug and Cool Down
Make sure the iron is unplugged and completely cool before starting any cleaning.
2. Clean the Soleplate (Bottom of the Iron)
Make a paste with:
2 tablespoons baking soda
A few drops of water
Rub the paste gently over the iron’s soleplate using a microfiber cloth. This removes scorched fabric, gunk, or built-up starch. Avoid abrasive pads—they can scratch the surface.
