How to Clean a Burnt Pan or Saucepan & Make It Like New

Sprinkle 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda over the burnt areas of your pan. Make sure to cover the entire burnt surface evenly.

Add Water:

Pour a small amount of water (just enough to make a paste with the baking soda) into the pan. The mixture should resemble a thick paste — not too runny.

Create a Scrubbing Tool:

Take a piece of aluminum foil and crumple it into a ball. Aluminum foil works as a natural scrubber without scratching the surface of your cookware.

Scrub the Pan:

Use the aluminum foil ball to scrub the burnt areas of the pan. Gently scrub in circular motions to lift the burnt bits off. The baking soda acts as an abrasive cleaner, while the foil helps loosen the grime.

Let it Sit (Optional):

If the burnt areas are particularly stubborn, let the baking soda paste sit on the pan for 10-15 minutes before scrubbing again. The longer it sits, the easier it is to remove the burnt stains.

Rinse and Wash:

Once you’ve scrubbed away the burnt residue, rinse the pan with warm water. Use a regular dish sponge to wash away any remaining baking soda paste.

Dry and Polish:

Dry your pan with a clean towel. You should now see that the pan is clean, shiny, and free of burnt marks!
