Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Cake Batter
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture forms a smooth batter.
If using chopped nuts, fold them into the batter now.
Step 3: Transfer the Batter
Pour the batter into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish or another similar-sized oven-safe dish.
Step 4: Prepare the Fudge Topping
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and additional cocoa powder.
Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the cake batter.
Step 5: Add the Hot Water
Carefully pour the hot water over the top of the cake (do not stir!). The water will sink to the bottom and create a rich fudge sauce as the cake bakes.
Step 6: Bake the Cake
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the cake has risen and the top is set, while the fudge sauce is bubbling underneath.
Step 7: Serve
Let the cake cool slightly before serving. This pudding cake is best served warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
