In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
Add the melted butter, egg, honey, and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring until well combined.
Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing after each addition until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for this step.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Shape the Buns:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Punch the dough down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, arranging them close together.
Cover the dish with a towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes, until puffy and nearly doubled in size.
Bake the Buns:
Once the buns have risen, place them in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
Make the Honey Butter Glaze:
While the buns are baking, combine the melted butter and honey in a small bowl. Stir well.
Finish the Buns:
As soon as the buns come out of the oven, brush them generously with the honey butter glaze.
Let the buns cool for a few minutes before serving.
