Homemade Pizza Recipe

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir to dissolve and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture is frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the yeast mixture, and olive oil. Mix until the dough comes together.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-7 minutes.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Make the Sauce:

While the dough rises, prepare the pizza sauce. In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add crushed tomatoes, garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
