In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is activated.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and vegetable oil, and stir until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until it’s smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Shape the Bread:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air bubbles. Shape the dough into a round or oval loaf, depending on your preference.
Place the shaped dough onto a greased pan or baking sheet. Let it rise for an additional 20-30 minutes.
Make the Garlic Sauce:
In a small pan, heat the butter and vegetable oil over medium heat.
Add the grated garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Remove the pan from heat and stir in the fresh dill. Set the garlic sauce aside.
Bake the Bread:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Once the dough has risen a second time, bake it in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped.
Finish with Garlic Sauce:
Once the bread is out of the oven, immediately brush the hot garlic sauce over the top of the bread. The sauce will melt into the warm bread, giving it an irresistible flavor.
