Homemade Cheddar-Stuffed Pretzels with a Golden, Soft Crust

Preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper drizzled with oil.

In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 60 cm (24-inch) rope. Flatten the ropes slightly, place a cheese stick in the center, then fold the dough over the cheese and shape into a pretzel.

Boil the Pretzels:

Carefully place each pretzel into the boiling water for 30 seconds. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the pretzels to the prepared baking sheets.

Bake the Pretzels:

Brush each pretzel with the egg wash (egg yolk mixed with water) and sprinkle with coarse salt.

Bake for about 12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve:

Allow the pretzels to cool on a rack before serving.
