Herb and Cheese Bread Loaves

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.

Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough:
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.

Shape the Loaves:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal pieces. Shape each piece into a loaf and place them on a greased baking sheet or cooling rack.

Add the Egg Wash:
In a small bowl, whisk the egg and brush it over the top of each loaf. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and dried herbs.

Bake the Loaves:
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the loaves are golden brown with a glossy sheen.

Cool and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let cool on a rack before slicing. Enjoy your fresh, homemade herb and cheese bread!
