Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. If the pastry is too thick, roll it out slightly to your desired thickness.
Assemble the Filling: Spread a thin layer of mustard (optional) over the puff pastry. Then, layer the thinly sliced ham evenly over the pastry. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top, ensuring even coverage.
Season: Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. If you’re using fresh herbs, sprinkle them on top of the cheese for extra flavor.
Fold and Seal: Carefully fold the pastry over the filling to create a pocket. Press down gently to seal the edges, making sure the filling is enclosed.
Egg Wash: Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg to create a golden, glossy finish when baked.
Bake: Place the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed up.
Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, and enjoy!
