Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, salt, and melted butter.

Place the cubed bread into the prepared baking dish, then pour the milk mixture over the bread. Press the bread down gently to help it soak up the liquid.

If using raisins, sprinkle them evenly over the top of the bread.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden on top.

Prepare the Vanilla Sauce:

While the bread pudding is baking, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract in a saucepan.

Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves.

Stir in the butter and allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes, until slightly thickened.

Serve:

Once the bread pudding is finished baking, let it cool slightly before serving.

Drizzle the warm vanilla sauce over the bread pudding just before serving for an extra touch of indulgence.
