Boil the Potatoes: Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold, salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 15–20 minutes.
Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Remove from heat.
Mash the Potatoes: Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Pour in the garlic butter and begin mashing.
Add Cream and Season: Gradually add the milk or cream, mashing and stirring until smooth and creamy. Season generously with salt and black pepper.
Stir in Dill: Fold in the fresh dill for a burst of flavor and freshness.
Serve Warm: Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with extra dill or a drizzle of melted butter if desired.
