Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic: A Savory and Comforting Side Dish

In a large skillet, heat the chopped bacon over medium heat.
Cook for 5-7 minutes until the bacon becomes crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon and set it aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the pan.
Step 2: Sauté the Onions and Garlic

In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, add the sliced onions and cook over medium heat for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and golden brown.
Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
Step 3: Fry the Cabbage

Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet. Stir it to combine with the onions and garlic.
Drizzle the olive oil over the cabbage, then season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika (if using).
Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still has a slight crunch.
Step 4: Finish the Dish

Add the cooked bacon back into the skillet and stir to combine.
If using, add the apple cider vinegar to the cabbage for a slight tang. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot as a side dish to your favorite meal!
