Fresh Cream Doughnuts

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake flour and 4 tablespoons of castor sugar. Mix well.

Add the Butter:
Soften the butter by leaving it out at room temperature or microwaving it briefly. Add the softened butter to the flour mixture, along with the optional milk powder. Stir until the mixture forms a dough.

Knead the Dough:
Sprinkle a little flour on your countertop and gently knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth.

Roll and Cut the Doughnuts:
Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a round cutter (or anything circular) to cut out doughnut shapes. Don’t forget to cut out the centers to create the classic doughnut shape.

Heat the Oil:
In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Test the oil by dropping a small piece of dough in—it should sizzle. Once the oil is hot, you’re ready to fry!

Fry the Doughnuts:
Carefully drop a few doughnuts into the hot oil. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Watch them carefully to avoid burning.

Drain and Toss in Sugar:
Once fried, drain the doughnuts on paper towels. While they are still warm, toss them in the remaining castor sugar.

Fill with Fresh Cream:
Let the doughnuts cool enough to handle, then fill them with fresh cream. The fluffy doughnuts will be filled with rich, creamy goodness!
