Easy Cheese Danish Recipe

Lightly flour your hands and flatten each thawed roll into a 3-inch disc. Place them on 2 baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

Brush and Let Rise:
Brush each disc with warm melted butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Cover the rolls with a clean lint-free dish towel or plastic wrap sprayed with non-stick spray. Let the rolls rise in a warm spot until they double in size, which takes about 50 minutes in an oven with just the light on (adjust based on your home temperature).

Make the Cream Cheese Filling:
While the rolls are rising, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and lemon juice using an electric mixer until smooth. Set aside.

Preheat the Oven:
After the rolls have risen, remove them from the oven and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Fill the Danishes:
Uncover the rolls and press an indentation into the center of each with your fingertips. Fill each indentation with about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture and 1 teaspoon of lemon curd or raspberry preserves.

Brush with Egg Wash:
Brush the edges of each roll with the beaten egg.

Bake:
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the danishes are golden brown.

Make the Icing:
While the danishes are baking, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 4 tablespoons of milk in a small bowl. Add more milk if needed to reach your desired icing consistency.

Cool and Drizzle:
Let the danishes cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. Drizzle with the prepared icing.
