Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans, or line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3: Cream the Butter and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 4: Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 5: Add the Strawberry Puree and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the pureed strawberries to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.
Alternate adding the dry ingredients and the whole milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 6: Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 7: Frost and Decorate
Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a generous layer of whipped cream over the top of one layer.
Top with the other cake layer, and then frost the entire cake with more whipped cream.
Decorate the top of the cake with sliced fresh strawberries for a beautiful finish.
