In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
Add onions and garlic and sauté until soft, about 2 minutes.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Pour in ½ cup of water, stir, and let simmer on low heat for 20-30 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
In a bowl, mix ricotta, shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and parsley until well combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread 1 cup of meat sauce at the bottom.
Layer 3 cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
Spread ⅓ of the ricotta mixture evenly over the noodles.
Sprinkle with ½ cup shredded mozzarella, then 1 cup meat sauce.
Repeat layers two more times, ending with a final layer of meat sauce and shredded mozzarella.
Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
Step 4: Bake the Lasagna
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
