Classic Jacket Potatoes: Crispy Outside, Fluffy Inside

Introduction:
Jacket potatoes are a simple yet satisfying dish that never goes out of style. With their crispy golden skin and soft, fluffy interior, they’re a versatile base for endless toppings. Perfect as a meal on their own or as a side dish, jacket potatoes are easy to prepare and guaranteed to please everyone at the table.

Ingredients:

4 large baking potatoes (e.g., Russet or Maris Piper)
2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
1 tsp sea salt
Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, crispy bacon bits, chives, baked beans, or chili
How to Make:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Scrub the potatoes thoroughly under running water and pat them dry with a towel.
Use a fork to poke a few holes in each potato to allow steam to escape during baking.
Rub the potatoes with olive oil or melted butter, ensuring the skin is evenly coated. Sprinkle sea salt generously over the surface.
Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the skin is crisp and a knife easily pierces the center.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Slice the potatoes open and fluff the interior with a fork before adding your favorite toppings.
