Classic Homemade Meatloaf: A Comfort Food Staple

Prepare the Meat Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork (if using). Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.

Shape the Meatloaf:
Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish or a lined baking sheet. Shape it into a loaf, pressing it gently to form an even thickness throughout.

Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Stir until smooth and well combined.

Apply the Glaze:
Brush the glaze generously over the top of the meatloaf, ensuring it’s evenly coated.

Bake:
Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the meatloaf is fully cooked through.

Rest and Serve:
Once done, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps it retain its juices and ensures the perfect slice.
