Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan (or use parchment paper) to prepare it for the batter.
2. Mix the dry ingredients:
In a medium bowl, combine the wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir them together until well mixed.
3. Mix the wet ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, sunflower oil, and eggs until smooth and creamy. Add the vanilla extract and mix again.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the warm water. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined. You should have a slightly thick, pourable batter.
4. Add the walnuts:
Gently fold in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
5. Bake the cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
6. Serve:
Once the cake has cooled, you can serve it as-is or dust it with some powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness. It’s also great with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.
