In a medium saucepan, combine the oats, milk, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the oats are soft and have absorbed most of the liquid.
Add the Banana and Cocoa:
Stir in the mashed banana, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup (if using), vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring to combine everything until it’s smooth and creamy.
Add the Chocolate:
Remove the saucepan from heat and fold in the dark chocolate chips or chunks, allowing them to melt into the warm oats. If you’re using peanut butter, stir it in now for extra creaminess.
Serve:
Scoop the chocolate banana oatmeal into bowls. Top with extra banana slices or a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired, and serve warm.
