Cantonese Steamed Chicken

Prepare the Chicken: Clean and pat dry the whole chicken. Place the chicken in a heatproof dish that fits in your steamer.

Make the Aromatic Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the garlic, shallot, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper. Mix well.

Season the Chicken: Rub the aromatic mixture all over the chicken, making sure to coat both the inside and outside of the bird.

Steam the Chicken: Bring a pot of water to a boil in a steamer. Once boiling, place the dish with the chicken in the steamer. Cover and steam for about 45-60 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).

Finish and Garnish: Once the chicken is cooked, remove from the steamer. Drizzle vegetable oil over the chicken and garnish with chopped green onions.

Serve: Serve the chicken hot, along with steamed rice and a side of vegetables.
