Trick to Repair “Peeled” Leather or Eco-Leather Objects and Make Them as Good as New

Clean the Area: Begin by cleaning the peeled area of the leather or eco-leather item with a soft cloth or sponge. You can use mild soap mixed with water for this step, but be careful not to use harsh chemicals. Gently wipe the surface to remove any dirt, oils, or debris.

Prepare the Repair Kit: Leather or eco-leather repair kits typically contain a special adhesive, filler, and colorant. Depending on the product, it may come with instructions for mixing the materials. If your kit is ready-to-use, follow the instructions that come with it.

Apply the Repair Filler: Use the filler from the repair kit to fill in the peeled or damaged area. Apply a small amount of filler to the damaged area and smooth it out gently with a soft spatula or a small brush. Be sure to cover the edges of the peeled area to prevent the damage from spreading further. Let the filler dry completely as per the manufacturer’s instructions (usually about 1-2 hours).

Smooth the Surface: Once the filler has dried, use a fine sandpaper (if the kit suggests) to gently smooth the repaired area, making it level with the rest of the surface. Be careful not to over-sand or damage the surrounding leather.

Condition the Leather: After the repair has dried, apply a leather conditioner or oil to the entire item to restore its softness and prevent it from drying out. This will help maintain the leather’s flexibility and keep it from cracking again.

Optional – Use a Hairdryer: If you’re in a hurry, use a hairdryer on a low heat setting to speed up the drying process of the repair and colorant. Hold the dryer a few inches away from the surface and be gentle to avoid overheating the material.
