Swedish Apple Cake: A Warm, Cozy Dessert Full of Autumn Flavor

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Prepare the Apples:

Peel and core the apples, then slice them thinly. Set aside.
3. Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
4. Cream Butter and Sugar:

In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
5. Add Eggs and Vanilla:

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
6. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
7. Assemble the Cake:

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Gently arrange the apple slices on top of the batter, pressing them down slightly into the mixture.
8. Bake the Cake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, and the cake is golden brown on top.
9. Cool and Serve:

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar if desired.
