Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish: A Sweet, Flaky Delight

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the pastries from sticking.
Prepare the Puff Pastry:

Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into 6 equal rectangles (or more if you prefer smaller Danishes). Place the rectangles onto the prepared baking sheet.
Make the Cream Cheese Filling:

In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. If you want a sweeter filling, you can add more powdered sugar to taste.
Assemble the Danishes:

Spoon a generous amount of the cream cheese filling into the center of each puff pastry rectangle. Use the back of the spoon to spread it out evenly, leaving a border around the edges.
Top with Strawberries:

Add a few pieces of diced fresh strawberries on top of the cream cheese filling. You can arrange the strawberries neatly or pile them on for a more rustic look.
Prepare the Egg Wash:

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the egg wash to give the Danishes a golden, shiny finish when baked.
Bake the Danishes:

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and puffed up, and the cream cheese filling is set.
Optional Glaze:

If you’d like an extra touch of sweetness, warm up the strawberry jam in the microwave or on the stove until it becomes liquid. Drizzle the warm jam over the baked Danishes for a glossy, sweet finish.
Serve:

Allow the Danishes to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with a few extra fresh strawberries if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
