Steak Croissant Sandwich

Season the steak slices with salt and pepper on both sides.

Step 2: Cook the Steak
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak slices and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let the steak rest for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Make the Onion Sauce
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the chopped shallots and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until softened and translucent.

Step 4: Add Wine and Broth
Pour in the red wine and beef broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any flavorful bits stuck to the pan. Stir in Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce, and let the sauce simmer for 4-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Step 5: Assemble the Sandwich
While the sauce is simmering, slice the rested steak into thin strips. Place the croissant halves on a plate and layer one half with a slice of cheese. Add the sliced steak on top, then spoon the onion sauce over the steak. Place the other slice of cheese on top and close the croissant.

Step 6: Final Touch
If you want your cheese extra melty, pop the assembled sandwich into the skillet for a minute or two to toast the croissant and melt the cheese.
