Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for tenderness. Gently slide a knife under the membrane and pull it off. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
Make the Dry Rub:
In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, cumin, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. This dry rub is what will give the ribs that bold flavor.
Season the Ribs:
Rub the olive oil onto both sides of the ribs. Generously coat the ribs with the dry rub, making sure to cover all surfaces. Let the ribs sit for at least 30 minutes (or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor).
Preheat & Bake:
Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). Wrap the ribs tightly in foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 2.5–3 hours until the ribs are tender.
Add BBQ Sauce & Broil:
Remove the ribs from the foil and brush them with barbecue sauce. Broil for 5–7 minutes, or until the sauce becomes caramelized and bubbly.
