Simple Jam and Walnut Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan to prevent sticking.

Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes with an electric mixer.

Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined and smooth.

Fold in Walnuts:
Gently fold in the chopped walnuts, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Add Jam Swirl:
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Drop spoonfuls of your choice of jam onto the batter. Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the jam into the batter to create a marbled effect.

Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Serve:
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
