Gradually add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture, along with the vegetable oil. Stir until the dough begins to come together, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, peel and remove the seeds from the pumpkin, then chop it into small cubes. Steam the pumpkin cubes for about 10-12 minutes, or until soft and tender. Once cooked, mash the pumpkin with a fork or blender until smooth. In a bowl, combine the mashed pumpkin with the coarsely chopped peanuts. Set aside.
Shape the Buns: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into small balls (about 10-12 pieces). Flatten each ball into a small disc. Place a spoonful of the pumpkin-peanut filling in the center of each disc. Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the filling to enclose it, pinching the seams together to form a sealed bun.
Steam the Buns: Prepare a steamer by lining the base with parchment paper to prevent the buns from sticking. Place the buns in the steamer, ensuring there is enough space between them for expansion. Cover and steam over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the buns are puffed up and cooked through.
Garnish and Serve: Once the buns are done steaming, remove them from the steamer and sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish. Serve the buns hot as a snack or appetizer.
