Picard Strings: A Garlic & Herb Butter Pasta Delight

Begin by cooking the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water, according to package instructions. Once cooked to al dente, drain and reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water for later use.
While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
Stir in the fresh basil, parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using), and cook for another 30 seconds.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat with the butter and garlic herb mixture. If the pasta seems dry, add a little reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the pasta is well-coated, then add lemon zest for an extra burst of freshness (if using).
Serve immediately, garnished with extra herbs and Parmesan if desired.
